COUNSELLING SERVICES IN WATERLOO AND GUELPH

When the ground feels unsteady, this is a place to pause, reflect, and reconnect with your inner bearing.

The reality we’re living in

What we’re navigating

Life is genuinely hard, and often in ways that are difficult to name.

Many of the structures that once gave people identity and purpose, like work, community, faith, and family, don’t provide the same clarity or support they once did.

The pressure to keep showing up and hold things together hasn’t changed.
But the support underneath it has.

How it tends to show up

At some point, that strain starts to show.

You might feel stuck, disconnected, or caught in patterns you can’t shift, with a persistent sense that something is off.

Most people cope by pushing through, staying busy, or keeping the harder things at arm’s length—that works, until it doesn’t.

If you’re here, something in you hasn’t given up. That’s enough to begin.

Hi, I’m Chris.

I’m a father, husband, and psychotherapist. I support people in discovering that vulnerability can be a source of strength, help couples rebuild trust and deepen emotional connection, and guide those ready to step out of autopilot and reconnect with a life that feels more meaningful. I provide a space to reflect, develop practical strategies, and move forward with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

My approach

How I show up

We take an honest look at what's going on: the patterns, the avoidance, and what's no longer working — whether that's within you or between you and your partner. I won't just nod along. What's going unaddressed gets named. What keeps repeating gets understood.

Tailored to you, not a formula

I draw on approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and the Gottman Method, using them flexibly based on what’s most useful for you.

Finding a way forward

From there, we focus on getting clearer about what actually matters to you and how to move toward it.

What the work asks of us

Meaningful change isn’t passive. It asks something of both of us. My role is to offer tools, strategies, and an honest perspective. Yours is to take what we explore and apply it in your life. In my experience, people who engage in the work often find that life opens up in ways they didn't expect.

TAKE THE FIRST STEP

How it works

  • Starting the conversation

You’re welcome to start with a free consultation, where we can get a sense of whether this feels like the right fit. If you feel ready to begin, you can book a full session.

  • The first session

In our first session (either virtually or in-person), we’ll take time to explore what’s been going on. We’ll talk through your experiences, the challenges you’ve been facing, and what your goals are for therapy. It’s also a chance to ask questions and get a feel for the process.

  • The work

From here, we begin the work. We’ll identify patterns, look at what’s going unaddressed, and take steps toward meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.
